Saturday Morning Junior Competition Are you sick of trying to find out when the next cricket/soccer/netball/basketball etc registration day is, or when the competition starts or finishes, or what time the match starts? Forget it! Your children (or even you) can play tennis all year round (for the rest of your/their lives). Matches have set starting and finishing times and we only have small breaks during school holidays.
We have an eight team 4 player competition format (3 players for the top grade) for boys and girls each Saturday morning commencing at 8am and finishing at 11:30am. At present, there are 8 divisions of boys and 2 divisions of girls catering for beginners to players who already play our senior competition. Players may be up to nineteen years old, but we have many players who are only 8 years old. Each player plays two sets of doubles and one set of singles, and learns the skills of umpiring and ball-retrieving, and tennis etiquette and sportsmanship generally. Generally, the minimum requirement for a child to commence playing competition is the ability to serve at about 50% success rate. We encourage children to wear appropriate tennis attire ie tennis shoes, shorts and shirt with collar (much simpler and less expensive than football boots etc). The Association has numerous tennis coaches within the District - details can be provided on request. For further information about competitions or coaching, please contact the Competition Secretary, Mr Terry Rogerson on (02) 9639 7810 or email . Results, draws and court locations can be found at the SMJ Web Site. Back to the Association page
